Bernard Hoste alias Berny grew up in a musical environment with his father, Johnny HOT, famous jazz pianist. At the age of 8, he started playing with him and three brothers, forming the youngest orchestra in Belgium. He followed a classical training in trumpet at the Brussels Conservatory, and improved his skills with Richard Rousselet at the « Lundi d’Hortense ». At the age of 17, he joined the Big Band International of Alex Scorier (saxophone) with which he toured for 3 years in Jazz clubs and at the Cirque Royal. He then formed a quintet with his father and three brothers, the "Johnny Hot and the Hot Brothers" (piano, bass, saxophone, trumpet, drums), which toured in the major jazz clubs in Belgium, France, Netherlands and Romania. They produced an album in 1993 for Johnny Hot's 60th birthday, entitled "Johnny Hot & the Hot Family".

 

years of experience on stage and at events, Berny has made a name for himself as a "showman". He accompanied various International musicians on stage, in festivals, in the studio, during private concerts or events. Freelance since 2000, he performs in different styles - Jazz, Latin, Brazil, soul, variety - in duet, trio, quartet, quintet, depending on the circumstances and with singers. In the soul & blues register, he participated in the group Blue Lemon Tea which produced an album of the same name in 2014. With his group Onda 7 (in the Latin jazz register), he released the album "The First one" in 2018.

Berny participated in the Bossa Flor saga in 2012-2014 and joined the Pataphysique Orchestra in 2019.
